Beginner workshop weaving

Friday May 31 Marieke and I gave a beginner workshop weaving. The weather forecast was not really good, 14 degrees and raining. We really wanted to do the workshop in the garden, because inside would be a bit crowded. The closer we came to Friday the better the forecast became. An hour before I left I took out my lady shave and sun screen lotion. 😂 It suddenly was 22 degrees and sunny.

Normally I always double check the time the trains go, but this time I thought I remembered it right. I didn't 😔 I had to wait 30 minutes for my second train. Turns out I took the first train when I was supposed to leave the house.

The workshop went really well. We had 8 good students. After explaining the basics, everybody started making heddles and warping their loom.

Results after an afternoon of weaving.

Soon it was looking very colorful. We started with plain weave and later we introduced pick up weaving. In the picture on the right you see the results of the afternoon.

After the workshop Marieke and I treated ourself with dinner in a nice restaurant.

We usually provide the yarn. We think it makes the workshop more special when you can dig into someone else's stash 😄

So many different looms and color schemes. Do they bring their own, or do you provide them for the class?
